| PIONEERING
ANIMAL ADVENTURES Animal Adventures was born in 1998 after we acquired several wildlife from a still-born animal park in Johor. Animal Adventures remained in Johor, initially moved to a private park in 1999. In the third quarter of 2000, we moved to a state-run zoo but management conflicts had us leave by the end of 2002, for a short-term contract at Genting Highlands. We eventually landed at Zoo Melaka to develop and manage animal shows from 2003 to 2006. We are currently developing new animal programs on Langkawi Island, Penang while retaining a small presence in Melaka to cater to our clients. |
OUR
"EDUTAINMENT" CONCEPT |
| THE
COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION Some of the wildlife species that we feature in our programs are highly endangered. With little hope for the future, many such animals are doomed for extinction. Tigers are a good example: in 1998, when we first started Animal Adventures, a leading zoo in Malaysia had fewer than five wild-caught tigers in a total population of about 20 tigers. Since then, more than 40 captive born tigers have had to be sent to other zoos on exchange programs in order to make way for the many more tigers that were displaced from the wild. |
| CONSERVATION
THROUGH INTERACTION Through our interactive programs at the zoo and at promotional events, we highlight the plights of the animals we feature. As a result of these interactive sessions, many walk away feeling a sense of awe. This is most evident in our Interactive Tiger Photography Sessions where we hope that the Malaysian public would take the sides of the tiger the next time the read about a human-tiger conflict. Through similar sessions with snakes, arguably one of the more misunderstood creatures, many have overcome or faced their fears of snakes. |
| WILDLIFE
CONSERVATION While our efforts may not be as active or direct as other wildlife conservation, our programs are helping change the public's perception of wildlife and the need for conservation. As a result of conservation, we have been continually updating our programs to reflect current sensitivities of the public in general. |
